When does Sashimi DC reopen after the New Year, and what fish arrives first in January?
Sashimi DC operates year-round, reopening in early January after any holiday break. The first 2026 shipment arrived directly from Goto, Nagasaki — Ikejime-processed Bluefin Tuna in all cuts, arriving ~24–48 hours from Miyazaki. January is one of the best months for Otoro quality as cold winter water drives peak fat accumulation.
We Are Back — First Shipment of 2026
Happy New Year! I (Keita) have officially returned from Japan and the first shipment of the year touched down at IAD this morning, cleared customs, and is ready for you at the store right now.
Fresh Arrivals
Bluefin Tuna (Goto, Nagasaki): We are starting the year strong. This shipment comes from the pristine Goto Islands. As always, the quality is spectacular — rich, deep red, and perfectly fatty.
Sasshu Salmon (Kagoshima): Back to the premium Sasshu Salmon with that clean, melt-in-your-mouth texture. Coming soon: Sasshu Salmon Ikura — keep an eye on your inbox.
Special Treat: Hand-Carried from Japan
While in Japan, I picked up souvenirs for our loyal customers: * Royce Nama Chocolate ($15/box): Incredibly silky "raw" chocolates that melt instantly on your tongue * Yoku Moku Assorted Cookies ($40/box — 36 pieces)
Coming Later This Year
My trip to Japan wasn't just a vacation — it was a sourcing mission. New products in the pipeline: * Japanese Caviar: A rising star in the culinary world * Sayama Matcha: Renowned as one of the "Three Great Teas of Japan"
